It’s time to fight! Come and participate in GM Eric’s Battle Royale, with a chance to win physical prizes, including a GM Eric bomber jacket, T-shirts, and more! The more participants, the greater the prize pool!
Game Details
We'll be playing D&D 5E (2014 Rules).
Voice/Video chat, we'll be using Discord for voice chat. I will personally be available on video within Roll20.
I will record the session for your and my own protection, but the video will remain unavailable to the public until after the Battle Royale is completed, at which time it will be made public. Avatars will be used for player privacy.
Sound Effects and music are played within Discord for environmental effects and ambiance.
Beyond20 browser extension is required to facilitate play.

Character Creation
You will need to create a new character for the Battle Royale. Your character must be finalized prior to July 26, 11:59pm Central Time.
Character creation is as follows:
D&D 2014 Rules (Legacy)
Level 8
All official WoTC sources are available, turn off all partnered content. GM Eric’s homebrew spells and feats are also available provided you meet the requirements.
Hit points are Fixed
Enable Optional Class Features
Enable Customize Your Origin
Visibility must be set to "Public"
All races are allowed
All classes are allowed
Ability Scores are based on the Standard Array
No custom backgrounds, otherwise all 2014 backgrounds are available.
Select Gold instead of Starting Equipment. (Mundane items that have prices are available for purchase as listed.)
You can cast multiple leveled spells per turn, if you have the economy for those spells.
Each player character will start with:
1 Potion of Healing
1 Potion of Greater Healing
1 Potion of Superior Healing
1 Potion of Supreme Healing
1 Unstable Healing Potion (Roll all your hit dice, regain that number of HP, and then roll on the 1d10000 wild magic surge table, with you as both the caster and target.)

Certain items have been banned from use within this Battle Royale, and will not be available:
Healing potions of the five types beyond the initial supply will not be available.

Potion of Heroism
Sword of Wounding
Spell Scrolls (Regardless of level)
Critical Strike Houserule - As is normal in GM Eric campaigns, on a critical strike, the first damage die will be maximized, and then the second die will be rolled for damage.
Potion Houserule - Drinking a potion will be a BONUS ACTION, or ACTION during the Battle Royale. But only one potion may be consumed per turn.
Wild Magic Surges - Wild magic effects will be rolled on the d10000 table, and will have a Constitution Saving throw DC of 20 to resist.
Environment - The arena in question will have side areas containing helpful/harmful resources or areas, exploration may get you a major advantage...or fun surprise, along with environmental hazards and dangers. Environmental hazards/dangers activate on initiative score of 20, losing ties, and hazards have a set saving throw of DC20, with the ability determined by the type of hazard.
Stagnation - Inactivity and/or prolonged stealth will be discouraged, as NPC enforcers will be added to the arena to encourage participants to get involved. This will occur after 3 rounds of inactivity. Please note, these enforcers will have overhead knowledge prior to jumping in, so they'll know where you are, even if you're hidden, and will be able to track you regardless. When the stagnant player engages with another player, the enforcer will leave the battlefield.
The Battle Royale will start with a house champion in the arena, asking for challengers. You can jump in at certain points around the arena (which will be marked). Please note that should one character hold the arena by themselves for three consecutive rounds, they will be declared the victor.
Spells, summons, potions, elixirs, etc, and any other effect from outside the arena cannot effect people within the arena due to a magical barrier over the battle zone. Buffs placed on characters prior to entry into the arena will be stripped, the spell slots, items, scrolls or features consumed, and the castings wasted. Summoned creatures in existence prior to entry will be dispelled, and removed from play.
Failing to enter the ring will forfeit your admission fee, as you'll have chosen to not participate as a character. Delaying for too long may also incur a push from NPC's. Get in there, and be active.
All characters will start with Inspiration. Inspiration will not be granted during the session by any means.

I've been a DM for about 39 years, and full-time professionally for a long time. With that, I do like to bend the rules to fit the needs of the situation at hand.
If you want to try something cool, let's see what you've got, and I'll do my best to work it in. If you can make someone else's character cooler through your action, I'll do my darndest to make the return even better.
